What Can I Buy In A Skate Shop? by Daren Wincup
First off it should be stated that skate shops do sell more than just skateboards. In fact if you have a young child who is getting into skating it’s a really cool type of shop to visit with them. And a great place to buy gifts for that little skater too!
Most of the items can be used by both genders. Skating is not a sport that is restricted to only boys or girls, although it is admittedly more popular with boys than girls. However, you may find that a skate shop has much more than what you thought would be there.
Not only do they carry skate clothing such as jeans, shirts, shoes, and hats, they also have backpacks, wallets and so much more. These items usually carry a brand name that has been made famous by a professional skater.
These items include backpacks, jewelry and many more things. Some of the brand names you may have heard your young skater talk about include “Element”, “Etnies”, “DC” and “Zoo York”. These are just a very few; there are many more brands to be found on skate clothing and equipment in these skate shops.
At times it seems that skating has an overall look, and in fact it really does. If you ask someone who is into skating, or even look at a few skateboarders, you will notice this yourself.
There are skate shoes from the above mentioned brand names and more. These skate shoes are much better for a skater to wear. Ask your skater boy what the difference is and he will probably tell you that they are flatter and grippier on the bottom than Tennis shoes to get more traction on the grip tape stuck to the top of all skateboards.
Check out the sport yourself; it screens on many channels. It’s really amazing what some of these young kids can do when they are out there on a skateboard. The skill levels of the sponsored and professional skaters are truly amazing. Your child will most likely have a favorite skater and want to have the brand of skateboard they use or wear the brand of clothing they wear.
Sounds good to me, but a lot of these items can be a bit pricey. However, even skate shops have great sales so keep an eye open and you might even walk out of a skate shop after only spending half a paycheck!
Of course, all skate shops sell skateboards. You can actually even make up your own customized skateboard. Many skate shops also carry some of the other extreme sport products, so if you have a skater in your family get ready, your trip to the skate shop is coming up soon.
